Danks’ donation adds up for over 120 Australian charities
27/01/2010
It’s a very merry Christmas and New Year for more than 120 charitable groups across Australia, thanks to Danks Holdings Ltd, Australia’s leading hardware and garden centre group, who has donated funds to mark its 150th anniversary this year.
The donations, which total a tremendous figure of $1 million, are being made via The Danks Trust, a philanthropic trust and will benefit a vast range of community groups and charities
– local country fire associations, animal rescue shelters, surf life saving clubs, and national charities including Vision Australia, National Breast Cancer Association plus many more – all of whom have touched the lives of Danks’ Home Timber & Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware and Plants Plus Garden Centre retailers, suppliers and staff in some way.
“This is a challenging time of year for many Australians, and we recognise that it’s the charitable groups in every community who are working extra hard to help them through the season,” said Danks’ Managing Director, Graeme Danks.
“We wanted to take this opportunity to support them in their worthwhile work, and also to share our 150th birthday celebrations with all the people, businesses and communities who have supported us in reaching our 150th anniversary,” he said.
The donations are being made via The Danks Trust, a philanthropic trust established by Danks to provide funding to charitable organisations and projects across Australia. Many of the retailers and suppliers also opted to match the donation, creating an even bigger gift for their chosen charity.
Danks Holdings Ltd, its members – Home Timber & Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware and Plants Plus Garden Centres – and suppliers look forward to seeing the results of the donations in their local communities.
“Our 150 year milestone is testimony to the continuing support of our local communities, and we are dedicated to being a valued member of these communities for many years to come,” Mr Danks added.
